I have often wondered why these were the gifts given to the baby Jesus . Could it be because they were and remain today fantastic herbs used for healing?
Gold may refer to the valuable mineral but it may also have been Turmeric, also known as the Golden Spice. It comes originally from Indi,a but had already reached the Middle East via spice traders long before the Christian era .
Turmeric is used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent, as well as being antiseptic. It is used by herbalists and other holistic health practitioners to helping patients suffering from cancer, arthritis, IBS and other digestive problems, liver disease and many other conditions. Many people in the UK as well as across the world, take turmeric powder in water evey day, of course there are many other ways-teas and juices, for example, of taking turmeric.
Frankincense- Boswelia Sacra, was and is a very expensive herb. Recently in the documentary series by The Truth about Cancer-The Global Quest, doctors spoke of using it to heal among other things, some tongue cancers. The website is certainly worth a look.https://go.thetruthaboutcancer.com/.
You can buy this oil, but do buy only the Boswelia Sacra. You can use it as an inhlation-put a couple of drops in hot water and inhale the steam. I like to mix just a few drops into some coconut oil and rub it on my feet at night-it ensures a peaceful sleep. I have also used it on my temples to relieve headaches from feeling stressed. It is amazingly calming and restorative. It is also used to help people with abscesses, acne, allergies, arthritis, bronchitis, all sorts of infections, in fact the list is endless!
Because it s expensive, it is rare that I prescribe it for my patinets, but do ask me about it when I see you if you think it could help you.
Myrrh- used as a herb and as an oil for helping people with athletes foot and other fungal infections including candida, bad breath, bed sores, bronchitis, sore throats, mouth ulcers, ringworm.....like Frankincense, the list of complaints myrrh is used to help, is endless. It is used as an antispetic, anti-inflammatory, ant-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial.
I think you can see now why these gifts to the baby Jesus were so prized- a small yet effective and priceless first aid kit. Herbs, that are as vaulable today as they were then over 2000 years ago. Consider giving these herbs to someone you love, this Christmas!
